Biography

Following his graduation, Galen McGill joined the ¾«¶«Ó°ÊÓ Department of Transportation, specializing in the design of electrical technologies for highway applications. His projects have included computer models for design of highway lighting, movable bridge power distribution systems, deck heating, monitoring and control using fiber optics, and cathodic protection of the entire substructure of a major bridge (a world's first) at Cape Creek on the ¾«¶«Ó°ÊÓ Coast Highway, US 101. ODOT received a Federal Highway Administration Design Excellence Award for this project. Galen managed ODOT's research and technologies transfer activities prior to his current position as Intelligent Transportation Systems Manager. In this capacity he is responsible for development of a statewide intelligent transportation system. In addition to his BS in EE from OSU, Mr. McGill obtained a Master of Management from Willamette University in 1993.
